Is it possible to make REST API calls based on a slicer value ?

Hello,

Can I make a API call based on a Slicer/Filter value selected in my report ?

P.S - I need to make API calls on the fly to only fetch details based on the value selected in Slicer/Filter.

For ex. I have a Slicer with different Country names, when I select a country value in Slicer, lets say "France", I would like to make an API call on the fly to fetch the details related to this country alone.

The example I have quoted is just to keep the description simpler, the business case I have is a much complex one inivolving 100s of APIs with huge volumes of data, so cant pull all data at once.

Hi Ajay,

Since you have a huge volume of data, your idea here couldn't help either. Let's say, the slicer/filter is quite flexible. If one user selects "France" and then selects "UK", the report could lose responses. The performance could be a disaster. 

BTW, this isn't available as far as I know. 

Possible solutions:

1. Using Direct Query. Reference: power-bi/desktop-use-directquery.

2. Using parameters. Reference: deep-dive-into-query-parameters-and-power-bi-templates/.

3. Create separate reports if possible.
