Incremental Refresh

Hi Friends,

We want to load more years data to our report by using Incremental refresh. Our model files in Import mode. We use oracle Materialized view as source to load our "sales fact" query.  Currently showing last 3 years data. we want to bring last 10 years of data which never changes and do incremental refresh so daily to be appended daily basis.

Materialized view refreshes in DB for every 1 Hr for now. We cannot do that with 10yrs of data. So one time we want to load 10 Yrs data and continue adding daily data to model.

After achieved above, If want to change something in the model (import type PBIX file), which will be of huge size, we need to move to all non-prod environments (Test & stage) . For now we don't use pipe lines. Just importing manually to other environments.

We dont want to distrub the 10 yr loaded model but we keep add queries/columns/measures in the model and often move thoruogh environments. Is there a way to inherit this model which is loaded with 10 Yr data which should be in Production only and inherited can be used for programming purpose.  Or there should be some other easy way with Azure.

Please suggest best way to achieve this.

Thanks,

Yoga

You can create a power bi dataset with incremental load. Connect to this dataset in power bi desktop and do the additional modification like measure etc. Publish this to dev/test.

But if you are trying to add additional sources it will create a local dataset for the report.

Hi @ykannan ,

Have you test copy the pbix file ,then import ten years data replace base data?
