How to change data source in a template?

Hello!

When can I change the data source of a pbit and apply the same workflow of the template to a different data source?

The template was created using a local csv file but I want now to use a file from an ODBC connection.

Thanks!

Hi @UsePowerBI ,

We can open the Advanced Editor in Power Query Editor to change the kind of data source and then save it as a pbit file, please make sure the columns and columns types are same as they are in previous query.

Please refer to this document about more detail about Advanced editor: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-query-overview#the-advanced-editor

Thank you, in case the columns are not the same, can we still adjust the template instead of building it from the begining?

How can we manage:

1) change position of a column but keeping the same column name

2) change name of a column but keeping same position

3) adding columns

4) deleting columns

Thanks!
