Hide items in Power BI Desktop

How to hide items in Power BI Desktop . After publishing power bi report from desktop to "app.powerbi.com" site .

we can see icons in left , right & top side of the page .

Left Side :- Favourite , Recent , Apps  etc

Right Side:- Filter

Top Side:- File , View , Edit Report

The User doesn't want to see the options , it should show the report only. What setting we have to do in Power BI desktop , so user won't see any option on the left right top etc .

Please suggest .

Hi @subhadip,

Who is the user in your case?

Is it a person who has his own Power BI account or are you going to embed the report into a custom application which can be seen by multiple users without any Power BI account?

Prateek Raina

The Power BI report is getting called from an Application  using Query String  Where the application pass the Id with the help of query string and view the data for that Id.

The User has flexibility to search other  id as well once it is navigated from UI to Power BI report .

Hi @subhadip,

You are probably not embedding the report in right way.

You should use App Owns Data approach to embed the reports. Here is the link.

Also, can you provide a snapshot of the report which you are seeing in your application to get a clearer picture?

Prateek Raina

The Report is getting invoked from Java Application which pass the id with the help of query string and invoke the report . sample query string shown below .

https://app.powerbi.com/group/me/reports/xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxx/ReportSection?filter=id eq '1234'

it opens the report where we can see various option file , view , refresh on top

favourite recent app in left .

All the icons need to be hidden. Is there any settings in the report which we can set to hide the details . Please suggest

Hi @subhadip,

No. it is not possible for your scenario.

In your case your users have their own Power BI Pro Licenses, thats how they are able to see the report from their own Power BI account. You cannot alter the layout of app.powerbi.com.

Prateek Raina

Is there any way we can set it full screen by default , so that the user won't able to see the additional icons  . until and unless they do exist screen . Please suggest .

Hi @subhadip,

The approach which you are following does not give room to any changes.

I would suggest you to embed your reports using User Owns Data approach. Then you will be able to do all this.

Prateek Raina

The Report is getting invoked from Java Application which pass the id with the help of query string and invoke the report . sample query string shown below .

can we add ?chromeless=true  to make it work  along with query string

Please suggest

Hi @subhadip,

It will open the report in full screen mode but still Filter pane will be visible on thr right.
