Field Parameters with relationship to another table

Hi,

I am trying to get field parameters to work with visuals where I have a separate date and sales table.  Ideally I would like to be able to have the Calendar be a slicer (year, quarter, month) on the x axis and the y axis to display sales based on product, country, salesrep?

I can't seem to get this to work using two field parameters.  Is this not the right approach?

can you share a simple screenshot or file, please provide some sample data in your tables (exclude sensitive data) with Text format and your expected result with backend logic and special examples. It is better if you can share a simplified pbix file. I can't seem to get this to work 

How does that manifest itself? Do you get an error message?
