Field Parameters not working on numeric fields

Hi all,

I have just started experimenting with Field Parameters and have so far been unable to make them work.

I have a table holds opportunity names, dates, etc, and two types of opportunity values, let's call then Value1 and Value2. I am trying to create several charts where the X axis is stable - whether that's date, opportunity type or any other value that we are already reporting on, but where the users can toggle between Value1 and Value2. Both are already mapped as Currency in the data and contain only numeric values.

My initial attempt was to create a Field Parameter from Value1 and Value2, then to insert that parameter into the Y Axis on the relevant charts, but so far that results in only blank charts and a filter that does not produce any results.

I read that aggregation might be the problem, as Field Parameters take values as they are, but won't aggregate them into categories or time frames, but unsure how to resolve that problem, or if that is indeed even the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello @SevsBo ,

create a measure that aggregate the values and reference the measure in the field parameter.

@SevsBo ,

the SUM (Value1) and SUM(Value2) would do the work.

Thanks!

Just to confirm, I used a simple SUM (Value1) and SUM(Value2) as measures and it seems to be working, or would I have to do SUMX or any other aggregation on it?

Fantastic, thank you again! I think this fundamentally changes how I use Power Bi.
