Drop a Column to Values in Matrix

I remembered I  can drop a column to values in a matrix, and Power BI will automatically summarize it like by sum, the first, the last... However, I find I cannot do this again. When I drop a column defined as text in a matrix, nothing happens. I don't want to write a measure to get the first value.

Am I missing something? Or we don't have the function now?

Hi @Ayna

Do you mean the aggregation types for text type fields in Values of a matrix visual? They are still there. It will select "First" for a text type column by default.

Thanks for your reply. I tried in my other reports, and I still can aggregate text type in a matrix visual. But, cannot do it in my ongoing report.

Hi @Ayna

A column that is Text does not work the same way as a Value.  Functions such as "count" or "sort" and others can be done with text, however, given text is not a value, you can't use it as such.

What is your Text column made up of?  Is it numbers that are in text format?

Thanks,
Theo
