Current Period & Previous Period

Hi,

I'm trying to create two measures.

Current Period: Looks at today's date and identifies what financial period it falls into e.g Today's date would be P8 (Our calendar has April as P1)

Previous Period: essentially the same as the above but minus one period

Try

past period =
var _sel_p =max(selected([table]period))
Var _period = MID(_sel_p, 1, len(_sel_p)) -1
Var _prior_period = if(_period<0,12,__period)
var _prior_year = if(_period<0,max(selected([table]period))-1,max(selected([table]period)))
return
 CALCULATE(COUNT('Sales'[Sales Date]),filter(sales, year=__prior_year && period =_prior_period )

If it does not work. If possible please share a sample pbix file after removing sensitive information.
Thanks
