Afternoon,
I have a dataset which uses a incorperates a merged query and both run in DirectQuery mode just fine.
I recently decided that I wanted to copy this into another Dataset, so i copied across all parts of the query. However, when I now run it, it tells me "This step results in a query that is not supported in DirectQuery Mode" and that this step is the merged query.
What I dont understand is, everything is set to direct query. It works just fine in the other PowerBI dataset (which is all DirectQuery) so why is this now causing a problem?
No i cant switch to import
Thanks
Hi @BugmanJ
Some steps are not supported in direct query mode, direct query mode is connected to data source directly, these steps may change the structure of the data source, so it will not supported. you can refer to the following link.

Best Regards!

Hello,
Sorry you missed the point where I said this already works. But when you copy it to a brand new PBI, it doesnt.
