Can you get a table from this URL ?

Hi

This is the source URL: http://www.fiskistofa.is/bitar/fiskistofa/aflastada/makrill/excel_makrill.jsp?pottar=Allir%20pottar&...

If this URL is pasted in a browser you'll be prompted to save an .xls file locally and in the file there's a table.

However I want to connect to the file using Power BI Desktop but when I do so via WEB connector I get an error (see picture)

wrong format.PNG

Now I know that the original file is .xls and not .xlsx but I'm not sure if that's an issue here.

Can anyone help ?

Hi @Yggdrasill,

Yes, I also failed to get data on power bi side. It seems like your URL contains some redirections or javascript functions that power bi connectors not support. (power bi will block these redirects and javascript on functions and only get web page elements)

I'd like to suggest you create a web service to pull data from that API and use power bi get data from the result or contact the support of that site to get the source API URL to get data.
