Approaches for periodically updating data source?

What are the approaches for automatically updating the data source in Power BI?

I can access the data using REST.  I can download it using CSV/XLSX.

I want to create a report and then update the data every month.  I'd like to do this automatically.  It's OK if I need to click a button to update the data.

(Note: I am new to Power BI)

Once you load data into Power BI Desktop, you can refresh the data from the data source(s) by simply clicking the Refresh button in the Home tab of the ribbon.

If you want this to happen automatically, you publish the report to the Power BI Service (using the Publish button on the Home tab ofthe ribbon). Once there, you find the dataset, click the ellipses and choose Schedule Refresh.

You may or may not need a gateway to do the refresh.

Hi @nilanjanb ,

Greg introduces very detail. I add some documents about refresh where you could learn more.

@nilanjanb

Refer, if these can help

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-automatic-page-refresh

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/configure-scheduled-refresh

If you can make sure you configure a folder of a CSV file and file are getting pushed there. Refresh can load new data
