This report shows analysis for work packages (associated with equipment required for construction) across a lengthy procurement process - consisting of stages such as RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), RFQ (Request for Quotation), Technical/Commercial Evaluation and Issue of Purchase order.
Each stage has a planned and actual date - the source data is an excel file (Link to download here) which looks like:
With data for two months (July and August 2019).
The Power BI Report analysing this process is split into two stages:
1) Delay Analysis: Looks at the workpackages which are currently delayed overall (As per the overall float - the difference between the ETA and the ROS [Required On Site] Dates at the end of the excel file), and those which have become delayed in August. The charts interact to be able to drill into the workpackages that are delayed/have become delayed, and details of these workpackages are shown in the table below
2) Stage Analysis: Looks at the variance between plan and actual date across each procurement stage, and the number of work packages which have been planned to date vs those completed to date at each stage in order to understand which stages are currently behind/ahead of schedule and when this slippage occured.
The report is also an example of applying some of the principles and ideas around storytelling with data, which I presented at the Power Platform World Tour London in August 2019. For a video showing a recording of this session see the video below/here
