I have been saving my audible.com listens in a spreadsheet for years. Imagine my surprise when a few minutes to create a Power BI visual told me so much more about my own listening habits than the spreadsheet ever revealed. My university students were particularly interested in my increasing interest in sci-fi and fantasy novels...as was I.
I used this as an example to demonstrate to my students how they could create some nice, useful data visualizations using the free version of Power BI. The data is stored in an Excel spreadsheet that must be manually refreshed each month, but I find this to be a great way to encourage students to learn the tool without having the benefit of belonging to a large organization. I can't wait to explore more ways to encourage them to develop their skills in Power BI.
