Semi Additive Measure Confusion: why are those two measures returning different results?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the concept of Semi Additive Measures

I have two measures for the same data set:

Value by Date= AVERAGEX(DISTINCT(Dates[Monthid]),[Calculation])
Value by Product= AVERAGEX(DISTINCT(Table[Category]),[Calculation])

They return different results, I'm now confused which result is correct, because in my visualizations I need both, the categroy and the date.

Thank you for your tips

Both are correct 🙂 Whether or not they are depends on what you want to caclulate, so you can't say one is wrong  and the other right until you know exactly what you want to calculate. The first one is an average over months, the other is an average over categories. Simple as that.

Thank you!

But so to use it in a card visual, it's confusing which one to choose..
