Hi,
I just updated my Power Bi desktop to Nov 2017 release. The Power BI desktop project displays the Shape map correctly but once i publish same , it is not displayed. I tried editing my report in online mode but shape map is not available under visualizations and also not available in custom visuals from store. Please suggest.
Thanks,
Surbhi
I'm having the same issue with the Shape Map and the pinpoint Map in Power BI. The data (formatted from Lat and Long) are showing in Desktop, but not online once published. I attempted to revert to an older Power BI Desktop release, but that has the same error.
Hi Surbhi,
The Shape map is under preview. So it could be only available in the Desktop. But it still work if you publish it from the Desktop. Please upgrade your Desktop to the latest version 2.52.4921.581 64-bit (November 2017) which is the second release of November.
Best Regards!
Dale

Hi,
I also tried creating new shape map in my power bi desktop with state name as location but they still dont display- even in power bi desktop. I tried data categorizing state name as State, place, uncategorized but it still didn't display. The shape map created before update is still displaying in desktop but is not displaying after publishing to power bi service.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Surbhi
I've faced the same issue yesterday and I used the last (November) version of PBI Desktop.
Then I opened and republish the report from the September's one and now the shape map is visualized correctly.
I can not create a new shape map in the desktop. When I select the visual the following choices are missing:
Field and filters: Value Formatting: Data Colors, Shape, Default Color, Zoom, Data Colors. I used this visual prior to the November update and it is still functioning in the desktop and web service in those existing reports. I just can not create a new visual in a new report. The only thing I have to go by is the existing reports to see what is missing but it does appear those are slightly off as well with the choices showing available. I am using a Live Connection to a SSAS MD cube.
