About Me

Matimo123

Regular Visitor Teesside University
I am a student at Teesside University currently studying Applied Data Science (Predicted Distinction). During my studies I have had the opportunity to develop lots of new skills such as Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Data Visualisation and various coding languages such as: Python, R, Javascript,HTML, CSS, DAX and M language. I am currently managing 2 projects for Spot2Spot with 2 teams of approximately 8 people in each. These projects involve using a wide range of Microsoft Applications to link together the whole project. Microsoft Power automate allows for linking a Jotform to a csv file which can then be linked to a PowerBI dashboard allowing for easy visualisation of their current workflow. The opportunity with Spot2Spot has provided valuable industry experience in the world of data science. I have also created numerous Dashboards for a wide variety of subjects. I have created a 5 page Dashboard for the NHS displaying accident and emergency admissions in the UK. The dashboard makes it really easy to visualise the data and to get answers to business intelligence questions. I have created a Machine Learning model (coded in R) for the prediction of Diabetes. This model used both SVM (support vector machine) and KNN (K-nearest neighbours algorithm) and used a ROC curve to find which model gave the optimum fit. The model took a data set and applied various stages of data cleaning to ensure the model could run correctly. I have also created a Python application for obtaining data from a Web Api and storing it in a database. This application used the OpenMeteo API to download and store data so that it can be plotted as a graph using matplotlib. I have over 9 years experience working as a Research Scientist in the chemical industry. In my previous role at Mitsubishi Chemical, I led the organization of testing and analysis for new catalyst samples, overseeing lab-scale rigs and ensuring safety protocols in the laboratory. I communicated findings to senior scientists locally and internationally, I was also required to travel to Singapore to train analysts in the new method I had developed. My career began at Johnson Matthey, where I completed the Young Scientist Scheme, earning an Edexcel Level 2 & 3 NVQ Certificate in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities. Transitioning to Dupont Teijin Films, I handled various analytical equipment, focusing on lab-scale rigs and aiding in project scale-up. At Intertek, I managed incoming samples, organized workflow, assigned tests, compiled results into Excel, and generated reports for each sample.
