Custom Date converting to literal date

When using the "Model" tab to create a custom date format I'm only recently running into an issue where Power BI is now converting my formats into literals. For example if I type "mmm dd" to try to get a format that looks like "Mar 14" it then somehow converts it to "\M\M\M dd" which makes it looks like "MMM 14"... wtf guys!?

Maddeningly, it even shows correctly for a split second and then it goes "nope, you clearly meant THIS garbage" and gives me garbage... I have the screenshots in order of how it processes it.

I'm on the latest version 2.100.785.0 64-bit (December, 2021) and it USED to work on previous versions so this might be a recent issue? Please help. This is SOOOOO frustrating!!!

@datanerd21 it is surely a bug, maybe report this an issue. For now, just enter the custom format string straight in the format section.

@datanerd21 Ha! It is insane, such a small thing so many bugs. What a waste of time? I usually use TE and hardly do these on the desktop so never experienced and had such frustration but it is surely not very good. Anyhow, you have a solution in place and hope this will improve with time, we have to do our part by providing feedback and/or reporting this as an issue. Cheers!!

@parry2k how do I post this as an issue. I'm a relative newbie to this forum...well at least for posting, not for searching!!

Thanks @parry2k . I didn't know that same option was available there. I was using the Model tab because I couldn't use format section before.

Funny enough, even typing the method you have in your screenshot it formats it like "Mmm dd" which looks like "M03 14"... I have to actually type something then "mmm dd" then delete the first M because it seems to want to auto capitalize the first letter you type.. so glitchy..
