Remove user access in dataset permission but not in workspace permission

Hi all!

I'm trying to organize my company's reports as they are growing everyday! One of the workspace we have is for the entire company. However, a few reports should only be accessed by specific departments. I'd like to keep the workspace permission to "all_users". But I'd like to remove "all_users" within specific datasets, and just add subgroups.

I'm able to remove user group in the workspace permission. But I do not have the option to remove access from "manage permssion" in datasets. Is this my user profile permission issue? Or is this not possible to do? What are my options?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @christielu ,

Currently you cannot remove part of all users of one dataset directly, but you can try this way if you are the member or admin role of the workspace:

  • You can separate these users who you want them to access specific dataset from the group, add them into dataset directly or group them as a new group in azure portal website to add them disposably in the permission page in power bi service.

Hi there

You might have to go into each user and then remove their permissions?

IF that does not work you might need higher permissions on the dataset.
