Hello ,
Need Help please
I have created a data gateway to update my data on a powerbi report connected live to sql server. The Vm in which I installed this gateway doesn't exist anymore and I have no way to change the connection credentials to the new database. I have added new data sources to the gateway but they do not show up in the gateway connection settings. I have created a new gateway with new data sources but I can't select this gateway for the update of the powerbi report in question.
Hi @ksar I think your issue might be that the database detail differs between what is used in your dataset and what was used to create the gateway connection.
Please make sure that the database detail is the same in the dataset and the gateway connection. Only the credentials can differ.
And when i add new data sources to the gateway , they do not show up in the gateway connection settings.
Hi @ksar ,
Usually only the gateway administrator can manage the gateway and the gateway's data sources.
If you still want to use the data source of this gateway to configure the refresh, you need to install a new gateway in a new machine to take over the old gateway, and then you can modify the datasource in Power BI Gateway Manage Portal.

Thanks for your efforts & time in advance.

that's what I was talking about in my previous comment when I said "I tried this option too".
As you said , I installed a new gateway in a new machine to take over the old gateway, and i tried to modify the datasource in Power BI Gateway Manage Portal but I still couldn't modify the connection parameters defined before because the boxes are grayed out
Hi @v-binbinyu-msft
I tried this option too, but it still didn't work and I had the same errors and I still couldn't modify the connection parameters defined before.
The boxes (of the server, the database and the authentication information) are grayed out like on the picture below
Hi @ksar ,
Please try to take over the on-premises data gateway.
