Hi everyone,
I set all of my dataflows 2 months ago. They had been working perfectly until the last two days.
I'm using On premises data gateway on a virtual computer that is on 24/7 and automatically refreshing reports each morning.
As per power bi service - (i) Data gateway is online and running (ii) Datasets are refreshing just fine.
Therefore, I conclude that I might have problems with Dataflows!
For the last 2 days, I've been getting an error for all dataflows that "There was a problem refreshing dataflow" (dataflow couldn’t be refreshed because there was a problem with one or more entities, or because dataflow capabilities were unavailable).
This message comes for both
(i) dataflows that are refreshing "local/desktop" excel files, and
(ii) dataflows that are refreshing SQL database.
Datasets refresh with no problem!
Note that no changes have been made to any dataflow, dataset, etc. compared to prior days when everything was working just fine.
I tried to generate a new Dataflow via the same data gateway, but, it also shows an error.
I tried to reset On premises data gateway - it is online, but still not refreshing - nor automatically, or manual.
I did not try to reinstall On premises data gateway.
Does anyone have any idea what might go wrong in the last 2 days?
Thank you for your time.
Are they running in a premium per user workspace?
I haven't seen it for a while but I had a weird issue like that where the only solution was to switch the workspace to pro and then back again to ppu.
Hi bcdobbs,
I have one model (and dataflows and datasets) working on permium per user workspace, and same backup model (and dataflows and datasets) on pro workspace. Both using same on premises data gateway.
So, it's not that!
However, all of the sudden, it started refhreshing again this morning. Refresh is slow, but it's happening. It probably has something to do with upgrades Microsoft is conducting.
I'll keep posted in next days.
