how often my report gets updated?

Hi experts,

I created a report in power BI for the first time. (I am used to good old ssrs, where the query hits directly the db).

The query I used for my report… how do I know if I change the source… does it get updated?

Not sure if it gets updated when the source changes or daily?! Where is that info located?

A lot of this depends on where you are hosting the report, as well as if you are using import mode vs direct query. Are you refreshing on PowerBI.com or are you just using PowerBI desktop?

Heres an article on some of the subject matter:

I just saw this.... the above means it was executed once? and it's been showing the same data for the last month? (I created the report 1month ago...)

Hi @maca128,

You are using Power BI Report Server. Here is an article from Microsoft on this topic - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/configure-scheduled-refresh.

Not sure if I am using import mode or direct query...

I am using powerBI desktop.

I am hiting a sql server table hosted on the same server...

You can check via the edit query setting, then selecting the source cog:

Import vs Direct.PNG

If you need to refresh either, then it's just this refresh button:
