As soon as I changed the image to the "Wallpaper" instead of the "Canvas background" it worked.

If you're experiencing a white band between the app frame and the canvas background in a Power BI report, there are a few potential solutions you can try to address this issue:

  1. Page Size and Margins:

    • Ensure that the page size and margins are set appropriately. You can adjust these settings in the Page View by selecting the page and then adjusting the Page Size and Margins in the Format pane.
    • If there are unnecessary margins, reducing them may help in utilizing the entire canvas.
  2. Canvas Size:

    • Check the size of your canvas. Make sure it is set to the dimensions you want, and there are no unnecessary white spaces around the canvas.
  3. Background Image Settings:

    • Verify the settings of your background image. Ensure that it is set to "Fit" or "Fill" as per your requirement.
    • If the white band persists, try experimenting with different settings to see if it resolves the issue.
  4. Transparent Images:

    • Ensure that the image you're using as a background is truly transparent in the areas where you don't want a white band. Some image formats may introduce a white background if transparency is not properly handled.
  5. Custom Color Overlay:

    • If adjusting the background image settings doesn't resolve the issue, you can try adding a shape (e.g., rectangle) to the canvas and set its color to the desired background color. Place it behind all other elements. This can act as a workaround to cover any unwanted white space.
  6. Inspect Browser Settings:

    • Sometimes, the rendering of reports can be affected by browser settings. Try viewing the report in different browsers or adjusting browser zoom settings to see if the issue persists.
  7. Update Power BI Desktop:

    • Ensure that you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Microsoft regularly releases updates with bug fixes and improvements that may address display issues.

If the issue persists after trying these solutions, you might want to check the Power BI community forums or contact Microsoft support for more targeted assistance. Remember that the behavior of Power BI can change with updates, so staying current with the latest version is often beneficial.
