Hi Everyone,
I need a help, I just started to use power bi and I have a doubt.
I have SSAS with a tabular model in Azure and I will use it in a power bi desktop file to create my report.
For this scenario, in order to publish my report in power bi service i will need to install a gateway on my server?
I belive that for Azure data source I don't need, am I correct? And since It's tabular model there is no refresh and is always update, ok?
I'm asking this because I received an email from a friend showing a message requiring an enterprise gateway to refresh data. Is this a requirement for PIBX files? If I use just power bi service I don't need a Gateway?
I'm a little confused about that.
Thank you all.

Do you connect to Azure Analysis Services in Power BI? If so, gateway is not required when your dataset only contains the Azure Analysis Services data source.
After you publish the PBIX file to Power BI Service, you will find that Power BI Service connects directly to your data source.

@javanoide,
When you connect to SSAS which is installed in Azure VM and refresh this dataset, gateway is required.

Lydia,
The same behaviour applies when you have a SSAS as in IaaS mode (VM on Azure with SQL and Analysis Service)?
