Hi there,
Is the data that is transferred through the enterprise gateway encrypted? Not data source credentials, the actual data that is being retrieved using the enterprise gateway (or personal gateway for that matter).
Thanks
So to expand on the question here a bit:
This reference page (powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-onprem) lists ports that are used and indicates Port 443 which is usually associated with SSL as the ports used for communiation. Down further in the page there is a section on "Forcing HTTPS communciation with Azure Service Bus".
Question.... if it is already talking on port 443 what is the "Forcing HTTPS communciation with Azure Service Bus" section doing above and beyond what the 443 is already doing?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Azure Service bus uses TCP - Changing the setting you are mentioning force the gateway to communicate with Azure Service Bus using HTTPS (443) instead of TCP (443). Beware as it has a great impact on performance in a negative way.
The data transfer by the Enterprise Gateway is all SSL encrypted. Same for Personal Gateway.
