Input/get data from another previous row based in a key reference

Hi PowerBI Community,

I am hoping that anyone can help me as I've researched for an answer and I cannot find a solution 😕

I am trying to map the vendor ID in PowerBI  table based in a report I get from a programme, this dataset contains all of the transactions/movments of an order (Column called Purchasing Document in the image). The vendor is not shown in the original report so I had to extract it from another description column (Colunm called Name in the image).

However in this latter column has some other random transactions that are from automatic posting of this system and do not show the vendor reference in the description, although has the purchasing document reference that I could map it too. I wanted to get the ID that I extracted in the Custom column based in this reference from the previous row if they match so I can map the vendorID, but I am not sure how. Can you help?

Hi @Loren_82,

If your data is perfectly grouped as you have described, the low code solution is to have a null returned instead of an empty text string "" in your Custom column, and subsequently fill that column value down.

Just right click your column header, choose, Fill, Fill Down

I hope this is helpful
