Tracing Employee Position History

Hi,

I am trying to work on a solution that provides the relevant position of an employee on any given date. I have 2 tables:

a. EmployeePositionHistory

b. WorkSchedule

Position History - EmpCode, Position, StartDate, EndDate (Blank for current position)

WorkSchedule - Empode, ScheduleDate (Last 365 days), plus other fields

The WorkShcedule file has a record of last 365 days for all active employees (active on that day).

Based on the EmployeePositionHistory, I would like to add a column in WorkShcedule table for the staff's position on that particular date.

All help will be appreciated.

HI @RV1,

According to your description, it seems like a common date range analysis requirement. For this scenario, I'd like to suggest you refer to the below blog 'start date', 'end date' part if helps.

Before You Post, Read This 

In addition, you can also try to create a bridge table to expand the detail date records and mapping with the raw table. After these, you can simply do analysis or calculate with raw table records.
