Hi All,
I'm to new to Power BI,
Just installed Power BI Desktop,
loaded data,
fields are displayed
unable to create a report on clicking/dragging the fields on to the report.
It says ' can't display the visual'
I think I miss something.
Any help is appreciated.
That usually means that there's a problem with a formula. Can you give more details about what exactly you're trying to do? Is it a measure, a column with auto-aggregation? What kind of visual? Are there multiple tables with relationships involved? That error message usually says "Can't display the visual. See details" and will give you an explanation of what is causing the problem if you click on "See details". What does yours say?

Hi All,
Thank you for your quick responses.
My source data is a CSV file (USstatespopulation.csv) that worked well in tableau.
When I click 'See Details', I see the following:
Couldn't load data for this visual.
Couldn't retreive data for this visual. Please try again later.
N.B : I tried other excel sources that worked well in Tableau. But in vain in Power Bi.
Any help please.
Hi @prasadl,
Please provide us the detail information of your source data strucutre and your report strucutre, if possible provide us some sample data and the steps to reproduce this issue, so that we can make further analysis.

Hi v-caliao-msft,
I just want to see a basic report in Power BI.
My source data is a local Excel file with 3 sheets.
The first sheet contains some data, and
you can find the structure below.
I used Get Data option in Power BI, then Excel
and imported Data (into Table1).
I'm able to see the data on clicking Data.
When I click RelationShips, I can see Sheet1.
When I click Reports, I can see Page1 and Fields.
But when I drag a(ny) field on to the Values area
or on to Report (Visualization Area),
I end up with a rectangle(with an X symbol inside a circle)
and just below that "Can't display the visual. See details'
And on clicking the See Detais, it says
"Couldn't load data for this visual.
Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual. Please try again Later".
I tried diff. ways but in vain.
Methinks, I missed something somewhere.
FYI, I don't know anything in Power BI. I want to give a shoot.
Any help to make me view a visualization (on any data) is greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
I followed all steps in this link (for data and visualization)
I fail at Task 2 in STEP 4.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you very much for your reply.
When I try to share, I am to able to see the report in the browser.
But still with the same error and without any preview on my desktop.
Plese go through my file using the following:
Hi All,
I installed Power BI.
Tried diff. basic data sources.
Able to see the (tables)data, relationships but not reports.
If I drag any field any data to the report.
@prasadlthis sounds like it might be some kind of hardware problem on your computer but it's very hard to tell with the amount of information you've given.
A link to a published pbix doesn't really help because we can see the visual working properly, but we can't see much about the data behind it. If you could upload a sample file to google drive or dropbox and share that it might help. It would also help to know about your computer's specs, what version of Power BI Desktop and what version of Windows you are using.

Hi
I installed latest Power-BI software on another PC.
I got the same problem.
I cannot create any reports on any type of data whether it is my own or
something downloaded from microsoft resources.
If I publish any file on the web, I am able to view the report.
If I download the same file from web and try to open,
I can see the report just for a second,
and I get the same message..."Can't display the visual. See details...'
FYI, I paste the details below and you can find
my PBI version
) and errors as well.
I hope this may resolve my issue.

What visual? What did you try to load into the visual? What is the data type and where did you try to put it?

Hi @prasadl
Have you had a look at the guided learning? It walks you through some expamples and includes videos etc.

If you try that out, it might help you out. 🙂
