Is there any possibility how to switch off calculations (measures) total in SSAS Tabular Model? I use direct query mode in Power BI desktop and I am not able to hide calculation totals in table. (I do not want to switch off the Totals in Format - General)
It is easy to hide totals on individual column (Properties -> Summarize by -> Do not summarize). But there is no such option on calculation (measures).
Tanks.
@ankitpatira As I said, I do not want to use this function. It is because the fact, that I want to have table where some columns have totals, but some do not have. So I would prefer some function in tabular mode, where I can hide (disable) totals on measure. For example like when I can set Summarize by to Do not summarize on Column properties.
Because the fact, that I use Direct Query mode neither I can use Default summarization option in Power BI Desktop. It is not active.
Hi @PavelR,
If you use the live connection mode to connect to SSAS database, the modeling features will be disabled.
“Question: If I created a live connection, can I edit the model or query in Power BI Desktop?
Answer: No. All of the query and modeling features in Power BI Desktop are disabled when exploring live data.”
Based on test, I find if you set the summarize properties to “Do not summarize” for a numeric field on SSAS side, when connect to SSAS in live connection, we can also set the aggregate functions for this field, though there is no ∑ signal.
If you want to modify the setting of these fields, you can right-click on these fields and modify summarize option:

Hi @v-shex-msft
I know that modeling features are disabled when using live connection mode. I metioned that modeling features are not active just for clarification.
You have shown sample on the field/column. But this is not my question. As I said, I am interested if there is any possibility how to switch off totals on calculation.
As you can see on picture below, in the Column I do not have any totals (in Tabular model I set Summarize by to Do not summarize), but in the Calculation I have total 84 (and I do not want it). So my question is if there is some feature, how can I switch off that total.
Thanks.
Hi @PavelR,
>>As I said, I am interested if there is any possibility how to switch off totals on calculation.
You can follow below steps to turn off the specify column's total:
In addtion, you can also use ankitpatira's method to remove the total row.

@v-shex-msft I have calculation which was defined in Tabular model, then there is no possibility on right click to do Don't summarize.
Hi @PavelR,
Sorry for slow response, measure seems not support summarize feature currently.
For your requirement, you could create an idea item in power bi idea.

Hi @v-shex-msft
I posted an idea here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/16287281-tabular-model-calculatio...
Now you can give some votes 🙂
Thanks.
