Hi!
I have a Power BI Desktop table that contains values that are either text or numeric i.e. CAT Code 2160 for one record and Ida for another. When I get data from the excel spreadsheet, it is only using the numeric values and it is omitting the text values as blanks. This is impacting my slicers as they don't include the text values. Can you have a column that has two different formats?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi @mbeutel , there is no way to store multiple data types in a single column. If you have two data types i.e., Text & Numeric then I would suggest converting that column as Text in Power Query Editor will help.

That worked! Thank you so much. One more question well I have your ear. I have a dropdown slicer and when I hover over the available items, the dropdown disappears. I have to click the slicer and then it will allow me to scroll through the dropdown. Any suggestions?
Mike
Are you using any shape or something behind the slicer?
I think I understand you
You have 2 tables.
Table1 has a column with the format "CAT Code 2160".
Table2 has a column with the format "2160".
You want to slice both with "2160".
Consider merging table1 and table2 into table3 with both vlaues in the same column.
Change the table3 column data type to text.
In the visual menu download the text search custom silcer.
When you search for 2160 it with find 2160, CAT Code 2160 but also 12160.
