How do i download the lastest version of power BI desktop whilst i already have a slightly older version isntalled?

Just go to the link below and download the file.  It will replace the version that you are currently using.

When I open Power BI, in the bottom right of the PBI window there is a notification that there is an "UPDATE AVAILABLE" and the option to "CLICK TO DOWNLOAD".

As an alternative you can get it from the Microsoft Store, in which case it will auto update:

Correct, as long as you meet the system requirements.  Unfortantely, my PC does not (Windows 7).  But if your PC does meet these requirements, then this is a much better solution.  Thanks @otravers!

That Download Free button should download the 64 bit by default.  If you need the 32 bit version, then you can select "Advanced Download Options" and then "Download" to select the bit version that you need.
