Is it possible to filter line chart on one dimensi...

I have a matrix visual that contains my dimensions and has measures containing today's data, same period last year, same periode two years ago. Next to the matrix visual I have the same measures in a line chart. I would like to filter the matrix visual, but then the line chart filters on today's date. This is expected behavior of course, is there any way to calculate the measures differently and thus keeps showing the line chart?
In the end result I would like to be able to select one dimension from the matrix and have the line chart filtered for that dimension. Of course I could edit the interaction and don't filter the line chart but than I cant select the dimension in the matrix anymore and only show the total in the line chart.
