In Excel, SSRS, etc... you can easily use a hierarchy and it will make the table/matrix expandable with little + and - buttons:
Is there still no way to accomplish this with Power BI?
For some reason I was thinking this functionality had been added, but I am not seeing it.
Is it really still impossible to do expand/collapse on simple hiearchy like sales regions or product categories, etc...?
Thanks!
Same issue here. It is possible to expand all, but is it already possible to open just one node? Thanks a lot!
The both
Can you tell me how you can expand just one node please?
Thanks a lot!
Today isn't possible.
It will be in October release
Perhaps I'm missing something, but you can do this in the current matrix visual using drilldown. And, it's more powerful as you can drill down/up by levels, nodes, or, levels and nodes - by rows or by columns. It's just not as intuitive as having the "+" and "-" buttons next to each row.
Hi tjd,
Can you show us how? Just one node, not all of them? I can drill down one level, but than all of the nodes will expand...
Thanks a lot!
Clicking on the drilldown arrow on the far right activates "cell" drilldown. With the arrow activated (dark), you can then click on a row cell header and it will drill down on just that cell to the next level. Click a cell again and it will go to the next level for just that cell. Pretty slick! Hope this helps.
Hi tjd
I see what you mean. This can fix the problem already a little bit. Thanks!
Indeed not that user friendly and all the other "high levels" are not visible anymore, but OK for now 🙂
Thanks a lot!!
I've been asking for this since August 6, 2015
How to use DATEDIFF
Hi Phil
Do you know if there is a solution or have you launched something to solve this problem?
@Phil_Seamark, I really hope you're right because this really is a huge deal for so many in whether or not to even use Power BI in ones organisation. It's embarrassing trying to explain to old Excel'ers that a trivial feature like this isn't possible when wanting to shift from stale Excel reports to dynamic PBI-reports. "Why would I want to use Power BI when I can do all it can do and much more in Excel?" ....
Do you by any chance have any link or update on this matter?
@OneWithQuestion@OneWithQuestion As you can see from the idea @Sean posted, this feature is Under Review. Let's keep vote it up to make PG prioritize this feature. I will also report this feedback internally.
