Create hierarchy for filter from the same table

Hi all, I was trying to group the data from a table column (brand) into A, B, C....Z so that I can use them as the filter. Example as shown below:

 

TableName:

Data in column 'brand' showing in filter now:

What I want to achieve:

Import Hierarchyslicer custom visual to Power BI Desktop, then create HierarchySlicer.

@Anonymous,

You can use Grouping feature in Power BI Desktop to group the data into A,B,C….Z, then you are able to filter data using the group column.

Just wondering if I can achieve something similar to the example below instead of grouping them as I want to show it in a dropdown list:

Are you meaning you want to filter brands by the first letter?

Yes!

You have to create a new column in the table brands with the LEFT function: LEFT(brand;1) .

And use that column in your filter.
