When using direct query and RLS, does the data first get loaded in the report & then filtered?

Hello 

So I was wondering, if you're using direct query and RLS, does the data first get loaded in the report & then filtered, or does the data get filtered before loading everything in the report?

All data will be loaded to dataset and then filterd based on Roles in RLS, visual will be loading only filtered data as per RLS.
