Upgrading Power BI free license to Power BI Pro license for an existing user

Hi,

I'm the first user in my company that must use Power BI. So, I've executed the access to the powerbi.com

in order to download the desktop.

But now I need to acquire a Power BI Pro license upgrading my company account, in the format firstname.lastname@companyname.it. So, I've tried to use this link in to accomplish a such task using a credit card,

but unsuccessfully: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

How can I upgrade my company account with a Power BI Pro license?

Do I need first deleting my account in powerbi.com and how?

Many thanks

Hi @pm_scorca ,

Try signing in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and follow these steps.

  1. On the navigation menu, select Billing > Purchase services.

  2. Search or scroll to find the subscription you want to buy. You'll find Power BI under Other categories that might interest you near the bottom of the page. Select the link to view the Power BI subscriptions available to your organization.

  3. Select Power BI Pro.

  4. On the Purchase services page, select Buy.

  5. Choose Pay monthly or Pay for a full year, according to how you want to pay.

  6. Under How many users do you want? enter the number of licenses to buy, then select Check out now to complete the transaction.

  7. To verify your purchase, go to Billing > Products & services and look for Power BI Pro.

  8. To add more licenses later, locate Power BI Pro on the Products & services page, and then select Add/Remove licenses.

The license is usually being granted in the M365 admin portal. Hence reach out to your Microsoft admins.

Hi JirkaZ, thanks for your reply.

If it is possible to upgrade the Power BI license to Pro, why is it available the link above reported?

Thanks

That really depends on your company's M365 setup. Some companies have the user purchases disabled and prefer to control the licensing centrally.

So, I cannot acquire a Pro licence by using directly the link https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/, isn't it?

Thanks
