The RLS preventing data to display in reports in PowerBI Premium subscription

This is a new problem that users have started experiencing today. The report has not been updated for at least a week, but recently, we found that RLS is not being handled properly. The report works well in Power BI Desktop, and works well for people with workspace level access, but does not work for folks with just report/app access.

This is a critical problem.

Thanks!

GilberQ,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. We are experiencing behavior that only happens in one report on the server, that was updated about week ago. We use RLS to determine if a logged user has access to a specific data, and also to ensure that they only see data that they have access to. Things were going well until this morning, when anyone with access to the report (and not the workspace) don't have access to any data. When I manually refresh the report, they regain access to the data for a short time, then they lose access too.

There are other reports in the workspace that continue to work as they should, even though they are setup the same way.

When I test this in the Power BI Desktop, I am not able to replicate this behavior.

I am looking forward to any suggestions/guidance.

I re-verified. The user having problems are not members of the Workspace (only the reports were shared)

Hi @Anonymous

Can you make sure that the user is NOT a member of that particular App Workspace?

GilberQ, the problem was resolved by deleting the report/dataset in the service and re-publishing it (merely publishing it didn't help). We feel that the file had corrupted during the deployment causing the erratic behavior.

Thanks for your help.

Hi @Anonymous

What is the issue you are getting?

Remember any person who has got an App Workspace role higher than viewer will see all the information?
