Repository for Reports created with PowerBI Service

Hi all,

With PowerBI Service (web), my users are creating their own Reports and Dashboards and storing them in workspaces.

Is there a way to have a GIT repository or similar connected to PowerBI Service, so that we can always have a backup of these Reports and Dashboards created with PowerBI Service?

I would like to have a backup of this Reports/Dashboards, so in case some user accidentally deletes a Report/Dashboard, I would just restore it from the backup.

Thanks,

Hi. If they create the reports in Service I don't think you can automatically have a backup. You can consider to teach them to use Power Bi desktop in live connection with a Power Bi Service Dataset. That way you can do some continious integration with devops. However I don't think they would like to learn all of that.

I recommend you to keep it simple for them. Let them use Desktop and sharepoint/onedrive or any drive so you can have versioning.

You can always do a manual job downloading the reports from Service and create your repository.

About dashboards you can't version them.

Regards,
