Folks, I was able to take an existing Power Pivot file with connections created through Power Query, import to Power BI's server as a Data Set, and use this to create reports. My question though is how to I *edit* and *maintain* the model? I've tried updating and reimporting the Excel file, refreshing the service, looking for some way to import the model to Power BI desktop, and nothing seems to work. Thoughts?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You won't be able to edit the model in the Service. In Desktop use File | Import | Excel Workbook Contents.
Hi rustyfrioux,
If you mean the data model in Excel, then we could choose to import that into Power BI desktop:
To import a workbook, from Power BI Desktop select File -> Import -> Excel Workbook Contents.
Check the article below for more details:
Import Excel workbooks into Power BI desktop
In addition, check to see if you could take use of Power BI publisher for Excel to use.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to post back.
Regards
