Is it possible to trigger a Power BI flow to run from a spreadsheet button?

Hello,

Is it possible to trigger a Power BI flow to run from within an Excel spreadsheet?

If not, is there a way to chain a Power BI flow to a non-Power BI flow?

Thank you.

I have the add-in but I haven't found a way that it can be configured to trigger a Power BI action.

If it's this one, I haven't found a way to trigger a Power BI flow from within Excel with it:

Thanks.

You'll have to build the Power BI logic (e.g. refresh dataflow or dataset) from within the Power BI automate flow.

Yes, there's a Power Automate addon in Excel (Desktop and web). Incidentally you can also launch Excel Office Scripts from Power Automate.

Thanks @otravers ,

Can you provide more information on the addon?

You can install it from Insert > Add-ins or from the new Automate ribbon tab:

As far as I can tell that doesn't allow one to initiate a Power BI action from Excel. I'm trying to initiate the process from Excel via a button so user doesn't have to access Power BI.

Thanks for you responses, though.

This button will launch a Power Automate flow which will initiate whatever actions you have in that flow, whether it's a Power BI action or anything else you can do in a flow. You're not launching Power BI directly from Excel, you're launching Power Automate (generic automation tool) which then can launch various Power BI actions (e.g. refresh a dataset).
