Hi everyone,
I noticed a strange behavior in the gateway / dataset settings in Power BI Service:
We have some reports with a scheduled refresh via enterprise gateway.
Now if anyone takes over the dataset, the dataset mapping for the gateway disappears and thus the refresh doesn't work any more until the new owner enters the correct mapping again.
Until now that wasn't a big problem, since the dataset owner doesn't change frequently.
However currently we are testing deployment pipelines, and with those, only the dataset owner can deploy a new report version to the next stage.
Is this a bug or is there any way to circumvent this behavior? Especially with deployment pipelines, my expectation is that after deployment the reports just work in production, without having to do some addition manual settings like updating the gateway mappings.

Hi, @IMett
When other admin "take over" your dataset, he will inevitably need to reset the configuration settings including credentials or scheduled refresh, and so on.
It is the same not only in an pipeline deployment environment, but also in an ordinary workspace. At present, I have not found an effective solution, although it does bring a lot of troublesome operations.

We have a team of people working on BI reports and this has become problematic. Doesn't make any sense that the data mappings are lost especially when the people working on the models have permissions to use the Gateways. This is an oversight that should be addressed.

This was discussed in yesterday's (excellent) Power BI Dev Camp session with Ted Pattison.

Thx for the Dev Camp session link. I think, this is too deep for me so far. Currently we only use the frontend clients for publishing and updating reports.
