Best practice for allowing users to create custom dashboard from a report

We have a finished report that pulls a bunch of information but some of our Project Managers would like to customize a dashboard with filtered down information (and subscribe to their custom dashboard). As the creator of the report, I know I can create these dashboards for them but it's not a sustainable method for the amount of PMs there are. 

 

I understand that Apps can give users the ability to edit the content but I think that's a little too much access. If they are given read only permission, they cannot pin the relevent data to a dashboard. Anyone with experience in this department give me the best practice on sharing our a report and allowing users to create a customized dashboard?

When you share a dashboard, those you share it with can view it and interact with it, but can't edit it. So, we are not able to allow recipients to create custom dashboard from a sharing report. 

 

As you mentioned, one workaround is to atore all content in a App Workspace and give workspace members read and edit permission.

 

Alternatively, rather than directly share dashboard with your project managers, you can create content packs containing relative datasets, reports and dashboard. Those managers can get content packs via "Get Data" -> "My Organizations". To edit thier own dashboards based on the shared report, they can make a copy of content pack, then, they have edit permission to dataset and report.

Thank you Yuliana, copying a content pack might be too much work for a regular user to go through, so for now I'll either give them edit permission through App Workspace or have one specific person create additional dashboards for them.
