What credentials to use for Active Directory Data Source

Hi,

I've created a report that uses the active directory data connection and have uploaded it to the server, but I am stuck at this prompt as to which credentials to use. I have entered my own but it wont accept them, is there a certain syntax or does something specific have to be done in order to give this connection credentials?

Cheers for the help

When connecting to an Active Directory (AD) data source, the credentials you use typically depend on the context of the connection. Here are some common scenarios:

  1. User Authentication:

    • Username: The user's AD username.
    • Password: The corresponding password for the AD account.
  2. Service Account:

    • Username: A dedicated service account in AD.
    • Password: The password for the service account.
  3. Integrated Windows Authentication:

    • In some cases, especially with applications running on Windows servers within the AD domain, you might use integrated Windows authentication. In this scenario, the application/service uses the credentials of the Windows account it's running under.
  4. LDAP Bind:

    • When using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to connect to AD, you might perform an LDAP bind. In this case, you provide a DN (Distinguished Name) and its corresponding password.
