Implementing App-Owns_Data approach for Power BI Reports in Power Apps

Hi guys,
I wanted to know whether it is possible to embed a Power BI report within Power Apps in the app-owns-data way, where users won't need a PowerBI license to view or interact with reports, they can login using the Active Directory IDs of the organization !

Hi @AhanSarkar ,

As far as I know, Power APP already has integration with Power BI in its design.

However, all those integration requires an authentication with Azure Active Directory.

For example, Power BI Report / Dashboard / Visualization and embedded into Power APP.

For reference:

Add a Power BI visual in a model-driven app (contains video) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn

All viewers should need to have at least VIEWER permission when they sign in Power App to view the report, which is for data security considerations.

So this embedded method is like user owns data.

If you definitely need to use app owners data, you can try to embed it on other apps by referring to the official documentation below.

For reference:

Hi Rico,

The first reference you provided, where viewers need VIEWER permission, do they also need to have a PowerBI license or sign in to PowerBI ? or does simply having the viewer permission in Power Apps allow them to view it and interact with it ?

Thanks !
