I have successfully set up a data gateway and a connection to my on premise server (AS400 via OLE DB). All the test connections come back successful. My issue is I have created an app in PBI desktop which also connects to that same AS400 (OLE DB). When I publish the app up to the PBI service how do I tell PBI that the dataset that was just published should be connected to the dataset in my gateway?

Hi @jpapador,
The link between your dataset and the data source within the gateway is based on your server name and database name. These have to match.
After publishing the report to Power BI service, you just need to select the gateway under Datasets Settings in Power BI service. For more details about this, you can refer to this article.

I have two identical Data bases within one 'workspace/app' .
One is able to use the data gateway installed on the server (enterprise), the other isn't. Your thoughts?
Solution (as stated many times online) : database credientials (pbix/ Powerbi Desktop) have to match the gateway. For me, this means no SQL and connection strings 😞
