KPI Visual with slicer

Good afternoon clever community. I have a series of data values by date that I want to put into a Power BI KPI visualisation. On the face of it, all working fine.

BUT, then I apply the slicer on the dashboad and it all goes wrong. I know what its doing but dont know how to fix it. So, I want the KPI visual to show the history in the background of the visual with the current value shown (a bit like this)

But when I apply the slicer, it just works with the data that applies to the slicer

I have tried using the "Edit interactions" function by removing the filtering when using the slicer which then fixes the history trend, but I cant get the current value based on the slicer to work for the value part of the slicer.

I kind of need the KPI visual to ignore the slicer, but the current value be driven by the slicer.

Any solutions to this, seems like it would be kind of a useful and common thing to have.

thanks all

Hi @scottda4270 ,

This is currently not possible, as the trendline needs two dates to show the future trend direction, so if you filter a piece of data, it will locate the corresponding date, causing the trendline to disappear.

Hi @scottda4270 ,

The following link will help you:

Key Performance Indicator (KPI) visuals - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

It requires at least three components:

  • Value: The main measure you want to evaluate, which could be sales, expenses, etc.
  • Target: What you want to compare the value with. This can be another measure or a static goal.
  • Trend: Shows how the value performs over time.

The value is shown on the foreground as an indicator of where you stand right now.

The target provides a reference point that indicates whether your value is meeting expectations (above, below, or on target).

The trend shows the direction and pattern of change over time.

Thank you @v-xiandat-msft , so how is the KPI visual meant to work then? how does it know what measure to show if you have a list of values...cleary the trend will show in the background but what logic does it use to show the foreground measure? thanks
