Hello Every one,
Am new to Power BI, started exploring Desktop. I have created a .PBIX file with mysql as data source. I was stuck with finding 2 things and need to know weather we can acheive them with Power BI Desktop.
1) As am using MySQL as my database and created the reports in PBIX file, can we protect the connectionpool for the user not to change the datasource and restrict them to the particular database.
2) Can we protect the PBIX file with password, as we open the file it should pop up for the password.
Does these things can be possible with power BI Desktop?
Please help me in understanding and exploring more....
Hi @pooju123,
Could you please mark the proper answer as solution or share the solution if it's convenient for you? That will be a big help to the others.
Best Regards!
Dale
Hi @pooju123,
1. There are no such restrictions by now. Everyone who has the file can make changes to the connection. BUT you can restrict the connection in the MySQL Server.
2. Not available by now. Maybe you can submit or vote an idea here: add-a-password-protected-power-bi-desktop-option.
Best Regards!
Dale
Thank you @v-jiascu-msft for the clarification. Are you talking about the database restriction @ MySQL Server?
Hi @pooju123,
Yes, maybe you can create a special MySQL user for Power BI connection. Only grant the access to the tables and views that are needed.
Best Regards!
Dale
