Can i use a refreshed excel file and still keep my visualizations

I created a few charts using Desktop BI connected to a Excel file. I now have a refreshed excel file with the exact same data structure and name but with more data. When i over write the old excel file with the new file , is there a way for my visualization charts to be refreshed based on the data in the refreshed excel file ?.

Thanks

Dinesh

Hi @Dinesh,

If you refresh data in the same excel file, what I mean is adding some data records append to original rows, when you click the 'Refresh' button in the ribbon in desktop, the visualization charts you created before won't be changed, only data values will be updated.

If you refresh data via creating a new excel file which contains the exact same data structure as before, to refresh data, you can change the source in Power Query. Open edit queries, locate to Advanced Editor, then, change the source file to the new one.

Go back to the visual mode, the data has been updated while the visualization charts will keep.
