Q&A optimization issues in office 365

All,
I am in the begining stages of optimizing reports for Q&A. I feel like every article I read leads me down a rabit hole. First, the power bi site within office 365 does not support a power bi file.

Error:
We couldn't upload the file because it's type is not currently supported in Power BI for Office 365.

So, this adds a few limitations-  I can't go into Power BI Site Settings and select "Optimize for Q&A".

Does anyone know how to optimize their Q&A any other way? Or is adding synonyms through power pivot the only way to optimize?

Power BI for Office 365 is the "previous" Power BI experience, which is why it does not support pbix files. It sounds like you want to use the previous experience, in which case you would have to build your data model in Power Pivot (Excel O365 Pro Plus Edition) for Q&A to work. After uploading your a Power Pivot model, you should be able to do the "Optimize for Q&A" feature since that's also the previous Power BI experience. A Power Pivot model with synoyms will also work with the new Power BI too.

However, I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of time developing & deploying Power BI for Office 365 since Microsoft have since moved away from that in favour of powerbi.com.

Yes, I am fully Agree with your point. In 2017,  we can anticipate both the development of new services that Optimized for Office 365, Power BI Pro takes the essential analytics and all of the other building blocks of data and consolidates them in one convenient dashboard as well as suggested services for partners.
