Can we switch default semantic model in report to new one with fixed connection?

   Hello,

I have a Power BI report that was built using a direct lake connection using default semantic model. This connection forces anyone who wants to access the report to also have access to the Lake where tables are located. We understood that we need to use a semantic model with a fixed connection to avoid this issue, and we have done that for all of our other reports. However, one report is still using the default model, and we want to switch it to the new model with minimal effort.

Thank you,

Suresh Guddanti

You should be able to use the rebind report API Reports - Rebind Report In Group - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn to point a report deployed to a workspace to a different data model.

Hi @venkatasuresh_g ,

Sorry,  power bi does not currently support semantic model switching.

You need to new a semantic model from Lake House, then recreate a report according to the old report.
