Create Scheduled Refresh Plan fails

I am trying to create a scheduled refresh plan for a Power BI server that I just set up, When I submit I get "Something has gone wrong" message. Checking the log, I get this message:
2022-01-24 15:34:33.1311|INFO|35|Received request POST /api/v2.0/CacheRefreshPlans| RequestID = s_92c7ac76-ca21-4f6d-a14a-c97c06e0fd81
2022-01-24 15:34:33.8922|ERROR|35|OData exception occurred: Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2010.RSConnection2010+MissingEndpointException: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with an empty response.

It seems like other API calls are working in the log. Please help me figure this out!

I used a weird workaround. I downgraded to the May 2021 version of the Report Server, got that working, then upgraded it to the latest version. Not sure why that worked but the problem went away after that.

Hi @wfeier

A few things here first.

How did you save the report to the report server? Was it via the Desktop application or did you upload it?

If you uploaded it, is it the same version as desktop as the server install.

Second, when you test your connections for the data source, do they all work?

If yes, then try and delete the scheduled refresh and create a totally new one.

If this failed, delete the report, upload/save a new one with a new name, and create again. This should work.

I'm assuming SQL is set up correctly and schedules have worked in the past, otherwise, this needs to be enabled.

Hi Guggu,

Thanks for your response! I tried both uploading and directly saving from the desktop version, no success either way. I tested the data connection and it is successful.

We have never successfully had a refresh schedule work before, so that may be the issue. What does it mean to enable Schedules? I didn't see anything about that in the Site Settings.
